1891: I have a copy of her birth certificate. Quarrington Hill is near Coxhoe.
1901 census: Living 11 Spencer's Bank, Whickham with grandparents, aunts and uncles, father, and boarders. Age is 10, and place of birth is Rainton.
Maureen Brown states that '[Sarah's first husband Luke] and Sarah took over management of the Dubmire Working Men’s Club in Chilton Moor. After Luke died [...] Sarah remained as manageress of the club. She left there when she married Thomas Avery'.
1922: A widow at the time of her second marriage, working as a stewardess at a Workmen's Club, living at Eastfield Club, Murton Grange.
1924: The death of a Sarah Avery aged 33 is recorded in Chester-le-Street district in the June quarter of 1924 (10a571). Maureen Brown states that Sarah died from complications of childbirth a few days after Elizabeth was born, and that she is buried side-by-side with her first husband Luke in Houghton le Spring cemetery.
