Joseph Davies
born 1826–1828
  in Cwmyoy, Monmouthshire
died 8 May 1868
  in Rowlstone, Herefordshire

According to Maureen Farrimond: Joseph was baptised on 15th April 1828 in Rowlstone. Note, however, that the FreeReg project has a record of the baptism of one Joseph Davies, son of Joseph and Grace, in Cwmyoy parish church on the 9 February 1826.

1841 census: (not certainly him, but seems plausible) living on the farm of Thomas and Ann Price at Cwmyoy. Aged 12 and said to have been born in county.

1851 census: (surname spelt Davis) living with parents and siblings at Crossway House, Rowlstone. Aged 24, born in Cwmyoy. Occupation is Journeyman Mason.

1861 census: living with wife and a child 'boarder' on the Deri, Llantilio Pertholey. Aged 33, born in Cwmyoy. Occupation is mason.

The death of a Joseph Davies is recorded in the Family Register of the Old Bible 'Age 44, Mar [?or May] 8—1868, at Rollstone'. Must have been May because his burial is recorded for May 14th 1868 in Rowlstone church register.
