The Emily Whiteside scrapbook of Robertson family oral tradition refers to him as 'George Robertson, born in Edinburgh | Scotland, 1765, died 1846.' In the later addendum to the same document he is described as 'George Robertson of Struan'.

1797: Described as 'bachelor of this parish' (i.e. Whitechapel St Mary) at the time of his marriage.
