George Clark
born 29 November 1807
  in Castle Eden, Co. Durham
died very roughly 1878

Name from son William's marriage cert. (seen by Margaret Cozens).

1807: the baptism of a George Clarke [sic] took place at St James's church, Castle Eden, on 31 January 1808. Unusually, the record (as retrieved through FreeReg) specifies the date of birth as well as the baptismal date. There are other George Clark baptisms recorded in Co. Durham around the same time, but no other is particularly near Castle Eden, and in the census returns George consistently gives that as his place of birth.
