I have an image of the birth certificate. The birth occurred at 5 Dock Street at 1 a.m., and was registered by the uncle (mother's uncle, presumably), John Shearer[?] (who was present) on the 8 December.

1871 census: Living at 30 Mitchell Street, Walker with parents and siblings. Age is 6, and place of birth is Scotland.

1881 census: Living at 54 Victoria Street, Walker with parents and siblings. Age is 16, place of birth is Scotland, and occupation is servant.

1888: Aged 22 and described as a spinster at the time of her marriage. She leaves her mark, rather than writing it herself. Residence is said to be 'Lizzie', which I assume must be Lizzie Square, one of the main residential areas of the mining village of Annfield Plain, just to the north of Lanchester.

1891: name from daughter Sarah's birth certificate. She registered the birth (leaving her mark). Surname is spelt Stuart.
