The LDS have a record of the baptism of an Elizabeth Mayo (parents Joseph and Ann) in St Philip's,​ Birmingham on 8 June 1840. Her birthdate is also given, though whether that comes from the original record is unclear.

1841 census: living on Wharf Street, Birmingham, with (presumably) mother and siblings. Her age is given as 1, and she is marked as having been born in Warwickshire.

1851 census: living with father and sisters on Howard [or Steward?] Place in the St Jude's district of Birmingham. She is 11, and born in Birmingham.
