Elizabeth Knight
born 22 November 1869
  in Newnham, Gloucestershire
died very roughly 1943
  in Gloucester, Gloucestershire

According to Leslie Hart: 'Elizabeth Knight's family operated the ferry between Bullo Pill (Newnham) and Arlingham (across the River Severn).'

I have her birth certificate.

1871 census: living in Newnham with parents and siblings. Age is 1 and place of birth is Newnham.

1881 census: living in Newnham with parents and siblings. Age is 12 and place of birth is Newnham.

1891 census: living on Barton Street, Barton St Mary with mother and siblings. Age is 22, place of birth is Newnham, and occupation is domestic servant.

1891: on marriage certificate her name is given as 'Elizabeth Mary Knight'. She is 23, a spinster, living at 2 Chapel Row, Tonyrefail.

1901 census: living with husband and children at 3 Clarence Row, Gloucester. Age is 31 and place of birth is Newnham-on-Severn.

1911 census: (as Mrs E Jones) living with husband and children at 3 Clarence Row, Alvin St, Gloucester. Age is 42 and place of birth is Newham [sic]. Employed as a charwoman.

According to Royston Hart, she died in her 80s at Clarence Row, Gloucester. She was still alive in 1942. She outlived her husband.

NB that she has a cousin (daughter of James Knight) of the same name and about the same age born in the same area.

Les thinks that the Knights originated on the English side of the Severn (as the name is far commoner on that bank than on the Welsh).
