1839: The LDS have a record of the christening of one Elizabeth Halford on 4 August 1839 in Newland to parents Richard and Mary Ann.

1851 census: living in the village of New Weir, parish of English Bicknor, with uncle, aunt, and cousins. Age is 12 and place of birth is Newland. New Weir seems to have gone out of use as a place name, but it can be found on the OS First Series map (1830) and the 1945 New Popular Edition, marked on the West and East bank respectively of the Wye on the West side of Symonds Yat.

1871 census: living in Wheatenhurst, with parents. Age is 30 and place of birth is Newland. She is unmarried and working as a 'Needlewoman'.

Newland is a parish in the Forest of Dean, halfway between Coleford and the Wye.
