1802: The baptismal register of Kirkham parish has an entry for 4 September 1802: 'Jane of William & Rebekah Lewis, Kirkham'.

1832: Name at marriage is Jane Lewis, signed with her mark. She is described as 'Spinster of This Town and Parish'. [The marriage seems very likely to be the right one, but if she was born in Kirkham, how did she end up in Lancaster?]

1833: Living in Yealand, near Warton, at the time of her daughter Rebecca's baptism.

1836: Harry Jack says that Grace's baptism record in the online Parish Records shows the family living in Spring Street, Preston—a continuation of Bow Lane.

1838: Harry Jack says that young Joseph's baptism record shows the family living in Marsh Lane, Preston—Spring St/Bow Lane joined it.

1841 census: living with children and ?lodgers at ?Brigs Lane, Preston. Age is 35–39, born in county.

1851 census: living with children at 30 Bow Lane, Preston. Described as a widow. No occupation given. Age is 48 and place of birth is Kirkham.

1861 census: living with son-in-law, daughter, and granddaughter at 8 Lodge Street, Preston. Occupation is Housekeeper. Described as a widow. Age is 58 and place of birth is Kirkham.

1871 census: living alone at 13 Spring Street, Preston. Occupation is Baker. Described as a widow. Age is 70 and place of birth is Kirkham.

1873: An entry from Thomas Baron's diary reads 'June 6 1873. Mrs Smith Came to live with us from Preston'. Presumably this Mrs Smith is his mother-in-law.

1874: An entry from Thomas Baron's diary reads 'Jane Smith Died April 17 1874 and was Buired at the Cemetry Abergavenny'.
